Algebra I Honors

Course ID: 1030

Algebra 1 Honors is foundational for future high school and college math courses. This class incorporates rules for manipulating the symbols, equations and variables to solve a varied amount of algebra problems. This is an honors course and as such, has an expectation that math basics are mastered before entering. Math basics (pre algebra) being mastered is what will determine the length of time each student will need to apply themselves to master the new lessons in Algebra 1.
This class will incorporate an online platform for homework that will give immediate feedback and assistance when a student may become stuck on a new concept. All lessons will be taught, practiced and assessed in small chunks in order to be clear about the students mastery and if any additional help will be needed. All tests and quizzes are to be proctored by a parent and signed by both parent and child to confirm the tests have been taken without the use of technology of any kind. Some chapters may require the use of a calculator and will be noted on the test/quiz.
All tests will be turned into me to be graded.

— Determine whether two lines are parallel or perpendicular to each other by identifying the slopes and solving whether they are the same or the negative reciprocal of each
other
5. Unit 5 - System of Equations
— Understand that solutions to a system of two linear equations in two variables correspond to points of intersection of their graphs, because points of intersection satisfy both equations simultaneously
— Solve systems of two linear equations in two variables algebraically, and estimate solutions by graphing the equations
