Education
M.A. in Linguistics, University of South Carolina
M.A. in Medieval Studies, Western Michigan University
B.A. in German Language and Literature, Barnard College

Experience
As a PhD student at the University of South Carolina, “Prof. Kate” was fortunate to receive a teaching assistantship within the English Department, and the gratifying challenge of teaching quickly became a passion. When she and her husband, Pedro, were blessed with their first child, Prof. Kate decided to focus on building a family and opted to graduate with a terminal Master of Arts in Linguistics from the University of South Carolina in 2002, the same year she became a mother to her first son. Currently, she resides in south Florida with her husband and three sons, and feels blessed to be a part of the Palm Beach Atlantic University “family”. This year, she will celebrated 11 years as a full-time faculty member at Palm Beach Atlantic University where she teaches writing and humanities courses both face-to-face and online.

Background and Interests
Prof. Kate is originally from Ramsey, New Jersey, but as she and the rest of her family wanted a bit more sunshine and beach time, they all transplanted themselves in Palm Beach County about 15 years ago. Now she is able to enjoy sun-filled days at the beach with her family, mother, siblings, and all of the “kid cousins”.
When she is not grading papers or reading (her favorite author is Edith Wharton, and Prof. Kate has read just about everything she has written!) she is cooking new recipes with her husband, running, or spending time with her three boys fishing, riding bikes through the trails of the county’s lush and beautiful parks, or working on puzzles. A parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in Jupiter, FL, she has served in the Religious Education Ministry as a teacher to young students. In addition, she is an active band parent in the Jupiter High School Marching band program where her oldest son plays percussion.
