Fundamentals of Math (Saxon 8/7 with Prealgebra)

The Fundamentals of Math will use Saxon Math 8/7 text which focuses on algebraic reasoning and geometric concepts and teaches math with a spiral approach, which emphasizes incremental development of new material and continuous review of previously taught concepts.

Saxon 8/7 reviews arithmetic calculation, measurements, geometry, and other skills, and introduces pre-algebra, ratios, probability, and statistics. Students will specifically learn about adding/subtracting/multiplying fractions, equivalent fractions, the metric system, repeating decimals, scientific notation, Pi, graphing inequalities, multiplying

algebraic terms, the Pythagorean Theorem, the slope-intercept form of linear equations, and more.

Parent Involvement is required

  • Homework and Test Review: Parents are expected to check their student’s homework and tests regularly. All tests should be proctored by a parent or responsible adult to help maintain academic integrity and ensure a quiet, focused testing environment. Students are expected to dedicate at least one hour each day to their assigned coursework. Assignments must be completed neatly, with all work shown—not just final answers. pop quizzes, as well as the midterm and final exams, will be administered in class.
