Middle School History: Uncle Sam and You

How do elections work? What does the President do all day? Who decides where stop signs go? What is Labor Day?

This class will use the Notgrass Curriculum Uncle Sam and You to answer these questions and many more. Through the year, the students will be guided on an engaging tour of American government. They will learn about elected leaders and everyday citizens, all of whom have an important role to fill in making our country work.

At home each week the students will read 4 lessons with engaging pictures and text and then they will work on completing activities each day that they will use to build their notebook for the year.

Activities will include Thinking Biblically, Vocabulary, Literature, Creative Writing or Picture This. They will also use the lesson review to answer questions about the reading for the day to prepare for a short in class quiz each week.

Class will focus on review of material that the student has read, discussion and activities to enhance that material and opportunities to extend the subject that the students have worked on throughout the week.
